The truth is self love isn't always as glamorous as it seems. Most people mistakenly think that going through the motions of self care should be enough to make them feel confident and instead are left feeling empty or lacking the inspiration to show any care for themself at all. I believe self love is built just as love in a relationship is built, through respect, quality time and validation. In this episode I break down the differences between self love and self care so we can stop going through the motions and start giving ourselves what we truly deserve.

In this episode I interview Madeline Elisabeta on all things women empowerment, respecting yourself and advocating for the life you deserve. Madeline shares what she did to truly advocate for herself and embrace who she is after years of comparison and ridicule regarding her adoption and unique appearance. If you want to learn how to stand up for yourself in a stronger way, this is the podcast episode for you. You can find Madeline on Instagram as @madelineelisabeta

When you're living in your bad habits and you're feeling unworthy, the reason you feel shitty is not because you're unworthy.
It's not even because you don't have the best habits. It's because your soul knows that you are inherently worthy of all the self respect and self love in the world and your soul aches for you because you deny yourself of it.
That's what hurts. The dissonance of not allowing yourself to realize who the fuck you are. In this episode I share tips to help you grant yourself the permission of feeling worthy and deserving of all that you desire so you can show up with the discipline and motivation to make it happen.

I may have a podcast dedicated to helping others with their mental health but that certainly does not make me exempt from the struggles of anxiety, depression and ptsd. In this episode I share a lot about what I've been going through after witnessing an attempted suicide and intense addiction in my family.  I want to always be transparent about where I'm at emotionally. Truly, I've been struggling a lot the past 2 months. I'm facing the effects of traumatic events I experienced this year and am learning how to navigate feelings I hadn't really felt before. As many tools and healthy habits I've learned the past few years- they weren't enough to help me truly process my life recently. Resurfacing panic attacks and triggers I didn't see coming forced me to realize I need to try something new. So I made the decision to go back to therapy. In this episode I want to encourage everyone that healing isn't linear and you are never "above" needing help from others. Don't be afraid to reach out. If you ever want to talk you can DM me on instagram. I'm here. I'm not a therapist, BUT I am a friend. @kayli_jane_pommering

Many people believe the best way to solve a problem or reach a goal is to wrestle it to the ground. Contrary to popular opinion, I think the best thing you can do with a paralyzing goal is get off the subject for a minute. In this episode I explain why I believe setting attainable goals and taking small steps towards dreams you know you can achieve is crucial in developing the confidence needed to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

In this episode I share my thoughts on productivity guilt and how to follow your inner guidance system. Many of us feel an overwhelming sense that no amount of hard work will ever measure up and that to take time for ourselves or to slow down would mean we are lazy or a failure. In our culture today, people are raised to be worker bees rather than to listen to the guidance of our emotions or passions. If you're tired of feeling burnt out and want to learn more about using your emotional guidance system as a compass toward your goals then this episode is for you.

"Brian Heil is a marketer, a Cincinnatian , a friend, and sometimes (often) an asshole. But in the way that is funny. He's the Head of Marketing at hirewell doing some cool things and he's banned from playing gloria at multiple bars for obsessive and excess force. This self proclaimed gloriaholic is here to talk about his story of bouncing back from a deep depressive experience. While not a straight path, Brian found peace through patience, reflection, tenacity, medication, finding his tribe, exercise, and a healthier diet. Maybe someone out there can benefit from his story or just feel less alone."
Yes, this entire introduction was scripted by Mr. Brian Heil himself but he did a pretty good job so I'll leave it at that!

Many of us walk around with a strong awareness of the feelings of others. Sometimes it can be very overwhelming to feel the weight and awareness of so many other peoples emotions. What I want to help people understand is how they can hold space for their own emotions and intentions without being too deeply affected by the emotional whims of others. Empaths have a strong ability to focus and experience the energy and emotions of others but it is possible to observe those emotions without internalizing them. In this episode I share tips to help you maintain a feeling of peace in situations you'd usually find overwhelming or draining.

We live in a society where everyone is fighting body image issues in a million different ways. Some through weight loss and others from surgery. Some doing it healthily and others risking their safety. We see lots of examples through the influencers and artists and actors we follow. But we also see them within our friends and family. I think often times the ones who do it the least safely are ridiculed and attacked the most. Creating a better body image is not done through judgement but instead is taught through love and compassion.

In this episode I share tips to help you create affirmations that make a real impact on the way you feel. Most people encourage positive blanket statement affirmations that are likely too much of a reach from where you currently stand to be truly effective. I want to help you climb up the emotional scale little by little, step by step. It's time to question the lifelong insecurities we so often carry and create genuine affirmations that can combat those feelings. Be prepared to think back on the root of your deepest insecurities and who they came from. We aren't born thinking we aren't enough. Insecurities are a learned behavior and thought, but just as those beliefs worked their way into your heart, self-love can too.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

Hi my name is Kayli Pommering and this my podcast Initial Impressions, where I’ll share the tools I’ve learned over the years to create peace from chaos and find a purpose that pushes me through it all.

Many of us are dealing with overwhelming feelings of pain, anxiety and trauma that we don't know how to manage. Having grown up with parents in active addiction, I understand how overwhelming and hard to navigate trauma can be.

Desperate to feel better, I spent the last several years of my life researching mindfulness. Throughout this journey I have learned so many amazing tools to find a deep sense of healing and peace even in the midst of chaos. I look forward to sharing everything I've learned with you so you can go from a victim to a victor and create a life filled with happiness and peace.
